National Palace Museum 國立故宮博物院
The museum exhibits
the most precious and important historical documentations, paintings, arts, and
crafts reflecting the rich cultural heritage and civilization of the ancient
Chinese. Treasures include ancient Chinese paintings, ceramics, jade sculptures,
remains of bronze weapons and many other antiques. The wide priceless
collection of the crafts covers five thousand years of Chinese history. Among
six hundred and fifty-five thousand pieces of treasures, the first collections
of old Chinese gems are from the Song Dynasty. The most famous and notable
pieces of the treasures now displaying at the museum are Jadeite cabbage,
Meat-Shaped Stone, Agate Finger Citrons, White Jade Branch of Elegant Lychee,
T’ien-huang Stone Miniature Mountain, and Jadeite Screen Insert. Owning most of
the Chinese significant treasures, National Palace Museum is cognitively known
as “the treasure house of Chinese culture”.
Getting Here:
Take the MRT Danshui
Line to the Shilin Station, Exit 1 and take bus R30 (Red 30 - Low-floor bus) to
the National Palace Museum. Other routes that will take you to and near the
Museum plaza are buses 255, 304, 815 (Sanchung – NPM Line), Minibus 18 and Minibus
19.
Take the MRT Wenhu Line
to the Dazhi Station and take bus B13 (Brown 13) to the National Palace Museum,
alighting before the Front Facade Plaza of the Museum. Alternatively, visitors
may choose to take the Wenhu Line and get off at Jiannan Rd. Station, then take
bus B20 (Brown 20) to NPM's front entrance (Main Building).

Adults Audio Guide
|
|
With the
small-sized and lightweight audio hand-held devices visitors can now enjoy
personalized tours by choosing what they want to listen to during their visit
in the galleries. The audio touring system provided by the NPM, available in
Mandarin Chinese, English, Japanese and Korean, for the cost of NT$100 per
rental. Visitors who wish to rent the audio players can inquire at the audio
tour information desk.

Kids Audio Guide
|
|
The Kids Audio
Guide is designed for children of age 4-6. Narrated by Emperor Qianlong and a
10 year old boy, Art, the guide leads children on an adventure throughout the
National Palace Museum. Available in Chinese and English, this guide is
suitable for a family audience and can be borrowed from the Main Building
First Floor Audio Guide Counter for NT$50.
To rent the adult
and/or children audio touring system, visitors are required to deposit a
valid proof of ID (ID card, driver’s license, health insurance card, or
passport) or NT$1,000 in cash, which will be returned to the visitors upon
the return of the audio touring equipment.

limited to 30 people). The tour schedule is as follows:

Shilin Night Market (士林夜市)
Getting Here:
Take
the Red Line to Jiantan Station (劍潭站). After leaving Exit 1, diagonally cross the
street to the left to enter the night market. The night market is divided into
two areas: the shilin tourist night market is a roofed food court located
opposite the Jiantan MRT Station, and across it is the area that stretches from
YangMing cinema to Danan Road, Dadong Road and Wenlin Road.
